Tips for a Healthy Hair

We buy  all sorts of products to have that Hollywood movie perfect hair, but have you ever stop to think that some things that do damage our hair are things we do on regular basis and never even realize it? Here is a little list of thing we normally do that can damage our beloved hair.

Picking at Your Split Ends
News flash: It can create even more split ends (and we think you might be going cross-eyed trying to find them).

Compulsive TwirlingNervous ticks are hard to break. But don’t let that affect your ends. Find something else (pen flipping?) to keep your hands occupied.

Avoiding HaircutsIf you want your hair to grow faster and look healthier, keep it trimmed.

Brushing Too MuchContrary to popular belief (and Marcia Brady), 100 brush strokes a night is actually pretty terrible for your mane. It breaks and pulls out unnecessary amounts of hair. Just a few strokes to untangle will do.

Wearing a Ponytail or Topknot Seven Days a WeekConstant pressure to the same place in your hair shaft can weaken it over time and, believe it or not, stunt growth.

Sleeping in Either of ThoseFull disclosure: This is our personal weakness--and also why we’re crying to our stylist.

Rubbing Your Wet Hair with a TowelA recipe for frizz. Post-shower hair should be gently squeezed with a towel--not wrung out.

Brushing Hair While WetWide-tooth combs--used gently--only.

Combining Hair Spray and Your Hot IronThe alcohol in most hair sprays burns when it comes into contact with heat. Apply a thermal protector before hot ironing and then fire the hair spray only afterward.

Setting the Heat Too HighFYI: A safe range for your flat iron is between 250 to 300 degrees (which is generally the low or medium setting). Curly-haired ladies: Patience, not higher heat, pays off.

Sassy Lipbalm

Looking around I found this campaign images for the new Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm. It promises to keep a hydrated lip like a lipbalm and at the same time add color and some shine like a gloss (but without the stickness). The color looks so vivid it made me wanna try it out, if I do, I'll let you guys know what I think about it, but from the images, it promises a lot.

Awesome Different Hairstyles With Bobby Pins

I use bobby pins on regular basis only because most of the hair style require some bobby pins to keep everything in place. But looking around I found some pretty awesome and different hairstyles you can do using the bobby pin not only to keep the hair in place but to use as something to decorate too. The queen of bobby pin styles in the celebrity world is without a doubt Diane Kruger, but other then her hair style, lets take a look on some other references for this cool, cheap and beautiful trick for your hair style.

If you are looking for some bobby pins to buy, I recomend this places for having different styles of pins and Target.com because, well, it's always good to have a cheap version of it.

How to Pull Off the Half Bun

Love Blair

After so many people wearing the top bun on regular basis, you may feel a little sick of wearing it over and over again. Well, here is a very easy and different way to use an evolution of the bun that is the half bun or also called half-top knot. It is loose, casual and popular with celebs. Take a look at some of the references I found to be interesting.

Sofia Vergara Look Younger on Her Makeup-free Selfie

image from @sofiavergara

Can you believe that this photo from Sofia Vergara was takenlast week? She looks at least 15 years younger then she actually is. Now you ask, what she did to look so young? She is not wearing any make up. Only Sofia Vergara could ever look younger by not wearing makeup, she did the opposite of what make up is for.

When I saw that photo it made me wonder what is her beauty routine to maintain such a nice skin, then I remembered about an interview she gave to the website Instyle.com where she tells her top 5 must have beauty products. Check it out below.

"True or false: Do you have a beauty closet in your house?
I do! I'm a crazed person when it comes to products. If I read about a woman in a magazine, like Christie Brinkley, who's 60 and looks ridiculously gorgeous, I buy everything she says she uses. Recently I've been into an anti-aging moisturizer from Camille Obadia, and sent a whole kit of it to my mother.

Have you always been a beauty junkie?

I can't remember a time when I wasn't. I've been using creams like Crème de la Mer since I was young, and I'll try anything. People say eat chia seeds, so I eat chia seeds. Then it's flaxseed, so I eat flaxseed. Now it's quinoa, so I'm eating quinoa.

How do you feel about cosmetic surgery? Or Botox?
If it makes you happier and more confident, then why not? But I also think you have to do your research, so you know what to expect—that you'll look fresher but not necessarily younger. I don't want to age, but hey, what can you do? It's a natural process. I'm trying to do it gracefully. I also believe that unless you're 12 years old or Gisele Bündchen, it's important to wear mascara and lipstick every day. It helps.

What about style? You once said that American women go everywhere in sneakers, and you wear them only to the gym. Have you adapted?
Well, you evolve with age and knowledge, so I've learned a sense of balance. When I was living in Colombia, I'd wear everything at once—bold lip, bold eye, cleavage, miniskirt, and heels. It's more casual here, so if I'm doing thick liner, I'll do a subtle lip. But my go-to always? The cat eye."

And here is her top 5 must have products according to instyle.com:

1. La Mer the SPF UV Protecting Fluid ($85, cremedelamer.com), 2. Camille Obadia Anti-Age Cream Yam Princeps ($79; camilleobadia.com), 3. Cover Girl Lip Perfection Lip Color in Ravish ($8; drugstore.com), 4. Nutribullet ($100; nutribullet.com), 5. Head & Shoulders Green Apple Conditioner ($6; headandshoulders.com).

Amanda Seyfried Rocks Cornrows at Ted 2 Premiere

Yesterday was the Ted 2 premiere in NYC and Amanda Seyfried appeared with some really interesting hairdo. For those that look for a reference for cornrows I think this is a good example without getting your whole hair tie up.

Another way of wearing the cornrows is using it only on one side like a lot of celebrities been doing, which by the way is my favorite.
